Bariatric surgeries

Bariatric surgery or obesity surgery

Bariatric surgery is an effective medical treatment for obesity. It mainly consists of restricting food capacity in order to reduce the caloric intake of operated patients. Surgical techniques have been refined in recent years and the risks and complications are lower due to a laparoscopic approach to the various surgeries offered. Laparoscopic surgery requires only small incisions in the abdomen and greatly reduces recovery time. The Centre Métropolitain de Chirurgie is the only private hospital center in Quebec offering the expertise of surgeons specializing in bariatric surgery. All patients are hospitalized on site and postoperative follow-up is provided by a multidisciplinary team. Endoscopic techniques are used in the ear, nose and throat. This minimally invasive approach makes the surgery effective and less time-consuming. As a result, the recovery time is also faster. The concern for maximizing function and aesthetics are at the heart of the surgeries we offer. The 2 surgical techniques offered are:

Vertical or parietal gastrectomy or "sleeve"

Vertical or parietal gastrectomy or "sleeve"
